Yesterday we had a Doctor's appointment to go over the x-rays that were taken a week ago at the Huntsman Cancer Center. We were saddened to learn that the tumors in his liver and lungs have not responded to the new chemo, rather than shrinking they have either remained the same and some are growing.
In October, the Doctor started Leon on a different type of chemo as he felt the first type of Chemotherapy may have been responsible for his bowel perforation last fall. Yesterday, they decided to stop that chemo since it was not shrinking the tumors and started him on his third type of chemo.
He will have this chemo once a week for the next six weeks (Great! now I have to worry about driving in snowstorms on a weekly basis). Once he completes his six week treatment then he will have two weeks off and they will again do CT scans and X-rays to see if this one will work.
We will see how this goes. This chemo has some of the components of the very first chemo, but is administered in a little different way - once a week, instead of every two weeks and he doesn't have to wear a pump home.
In other disappointing news he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease also.
Thanks for all your prayers!
